We are in August and it is really hot here in Málaga.  I still haven't had my holidays (I hope to take next week off) and because I am getting up at 6 a.m, I don't feel like doing much in the afternoon or evening with this heat and all. So as you can see it has been more than a week since I open my laptop and wrote a post in my blog.

It is a relieve that I have been taking some pictures because it helps a lot to see what I had done last week and these past days.

Well, one thing I wanted to do this summer was peach jam.  It took me a while to buy the peaches and find the time but last weekend I make a batch of peach jam.  It's not much but is something.  It is the second time I made peach jam.  We already open a jar (we couldn't wait) and it is quite nice.

I baked a lemon and blackberries cake.  I had seem this cake in a blog and I found a recipe in one of my cooking books about cakes I have.  It can be improve but it was quite nice and I liked a lot how well it tasted the lemon in the cake (lemon zest) with the blackberries.

Yesterday I was like a catering and took a pie or "empanada", green salad and some bread rolls (last two pictures) to my mother's house for lunch so she didn't have to cook and could take a day-off.  The pie is made with minced meat, onion, zucchini and homemade tomato sauce.  The dough was made mixing 300 gr spelt flour and 90 gr of olive oil and 90 gr of water.  The recipe I have for this dough calls for white wine instead of water but I didn't have any left so I put water.   It is really a very easy pie to make although it is the first time I make it with minced meat as I usually put tunafish instead.

And, of course, I have been baking bread last week and this week.  Last week I baked the 100% wholemeal loaf.  This with sourdough.  I was quite happy because I used only organic strong wholemeal for the loaf and it came out really good.  It could have been even better if I had baked it in a tin but I wanted the thick crust so the loaf could last longer.

This week I baked some "molletes", that I forgot to take photos because I was in a hurry, and the bread rolls you can see in the last photos.  These both I did with fresh yeast.
