Here you have the loaf for this weekend.  Just as always, sourdough, 250 flour and 250 rye flour, mixed seeds, 10 gr salt and 325 gr (or even a bit more) water.  This time I baked the two loaves in a tin.  The one in the picture is mine, the other loaf was for my sister.

Ya me he apuntado.

Yesterday I finished the cross-stitch Tralalá from "Bordando Juntos" forum I showed you this week.  Isn't it beautiful?

I thought I was going to have time to do other things now that I had finished this project and next one, that is October Tralalá does not start until October but today I saw November and December Tralalá and they are very nice too and I would like to do them.  The thing is that I cannot start for example November until I hadn't finished October so I need to make sure I finished October on time.  This afternoon I have already bought the threads and fabric I need for October cross-stitch and I have started both borders (there are two squares).

I have also fallen in love with another cross-stitch common project that I have seen in "Mil Puntadas" forum.  It is a halloween cross-stitch and I think it can be fun.

Well we'll see if I am able to do all cross-stitch projets I want to do.  I'll keep you informed.

This is the sourdough bread for this weekend.  I baked it yesterday evening.

No yeast just sourdough, two tablespoon of sourdough.  It has also 500 gr flour (strong and rye), seeds, oatmeal, 10 gr. salt and (more or less) 325 gr. of water.  I started with 300 gr of water but I saw the flour needed more so I added extra.  I mixed all ingredients well, covered the bowl with a plastic shower cap and let the bowl in the kitchen the whole night.

Yesterday morning, around 6:15 a.m, and before going to work, I shaped the loaf and let it in a "banneton" (sorry I don't know how it is called in English), covered it again with the shower cap and let in the fridge.

My mother was at 13:30 in my house and I called her and asked her to take the banneton out of the fridge so I could bake the loaf around 16:30.  Problem was that I arrived at home around 18:00 so the dough was over fermented (again I don't know if this is said this way).

Anyway I baked as always.  The loaf didn't rise as much as it should have but today we have tried the bread and it tasted really well.  It has a lot of flavour.

And now I have bread for the weekend. : )

These are the projects I am working on right now.

A cross-stitch from "Bordando Juntos" forum, that I should have finished last month.  I hope I can finish it this week or at least before October.

The crochet projetc is a shawl for me for Autumn.  I am using a cotton yarn from Katia, Katia Candy.  I am enjoying working with this yarn a lot.  It is really soft and very easy to crochet with.  I still have to crochet quite a bit to finish it but as it is not a very difficult pattern and I don't have to change colours it is quite nice to work with it.

A while back I bought green soybeans because I thought they were the ones to make soy milk.  In "El Foro del Pan" they told me the ones for soy milk are the white beans.  So, I didn't know what to do with the green beans.  But someone from the same forum suggested I made soy sprouts.

After looking in internet how to cultivate soy sprouts last week I decided to give it a try.  Well I think I should have harvested them when I took the first picture but I thought they should stay one more day.  Yesterday I found them too grown so I put them in this small tray, with a bit of water and today I found them like the last picture.  I think they look really beautiful.

I will experiment again as I still have lots of soybeans left.

Once more I have left a week go by without a new post.  I cannot believe how quicky time flies.

Well, here are the loaf and rolls from this last weekend.  I must say they are not my best breads but at least they taste good.

I put sourdough instead of yeast in the big loaf. It didn't rise as much in the oven as I wanted and it is not a light bread but it tastes really good and even having baked it on Thursday, today, Tuesday, is still quite nice.

I had a big problem with the small breads or rolls or "molletes" as we call them here in Spain.  This batch is the second I made this weekend. The first one couldn't be saved.  What happened?  I thought I was paying attention when I added the salt because I have made a few without salt.  But it was obvious afterwards that I wasn't paying enough attention as I forgot to put yeast, fresh yeast.  I realized it when the rolls were already in the oven.  They weren't edible at all.

On Sunday I decided to make them again.  Both times I have used the bread machine to make and knead the dough so I only had to shape and bake them.  The ingredients for these "molletes" are:  300 gr water, 500 gr flour (better if it is not too strong), 10 gr of fresh yeast and 10 gr of salt.  As I said, I leave in the breadmachine until the second knead is finished.  Then I shaped the molletes and after 15 minutes or so I bake them, oven at 200º, for about 15 - 20 minutes.  They shouldn't be golden, they should look white.  They are delicious when toasted.

  • Drums of Autumn de Diana Gabaldon

The books I read in August were:

  • Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon

La sombra de la Sirena by Camilla Läckberg is the sixth book that has been translated in Spanish.  I've looked for the English name of the book but I couldn't find it.  So far I have read all her books (translated in Spanish) of the Fjällbacka series and I like all of them.  I like this book a lot as well.  And it is always nice to see the characters  (Erica and Patrick and the rest) of the series again.

One of the things I wanted to do in my holidays was to finish Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon.  Finally I had time to relax and read as much as I wanted and enjoy this book.  I am always surprise at Diana Gabaldon books.  They are big books.  It is like reading 3 or 4 normal books or like watching a whole season of a tv-show.  But what amazes me most is that I enjoyed the book a lot from the first page to the last.  There are so much in the book.  I had laughed, I had been at edge of what could happen next, there are lots of adventures, romance ...etc.  And of course the best part is seen the characters of Jamie, Claire and the rest of the family again.  I am looking forward to reading the next book but it will have to wait because as I said before, they are so big, that if I start the next I won't have time to read anything else.
